Tips on saving money~
Hello guys~
This week I am going to talk about something different just because school is coming up so I thought maybe I should add in this blog post for those who are starting university or already is in university. I want to talk about tips on saving money when it comes going to university (or I guess in general if you would like LOL). I know for a fact (or everyone knows for a fact) that when it comes to university, it costs a lot of money so it is good to budget and save money when it comes to that. Also, it gives us an opportunity to understand how to properly spend our money, i guess LOL
TIP #1: Always write down how much you spend.
For me, when I first started to save money I would write down the things that I have purchased each day and add them up the total at the end of the week. I do this because I want to see how much I spend within a week (sometimes it varies but you get the idea). I think doing this for the first few weeks is a good because it gives us an idea of 1. the things we spend uselessly on (does that even make sense? LOL) and 2. how much we want to budget per week.
TIP #2: Know what you want to get and make sure it is something you really need.
I use to be the type of person who buys whatever I want at that moment. Why? Because my parents would be the one to buy it for me. But now that I have started working and earning my own money, I start to value how much hard work it is to get money so I try to spend it wisely. I'm not saying you shouldn't purchase anything you really want because from time to time it is good to treat yourself with something nice. What I am saying though is that don't start swiping your debit card with things that you already have or do not need at the moment because it can be saved for later.
TIP #3: Create a budget.
For example, during school time I would budget myself to AT LEAST $20 per TWO weeks and girl, let me tell you that was a hard thing to do when I first started. It's like I would run out of money within a day. (Can you guys imagine how much we spend each day on an average if we didn't budget?). But during the summer time I like to give myself for money because its summer and I tend to go out more than usual so I would budget myself to AT LEAST $30-35 per TWO weeks. You really get the hang of it once you get used to it because like I said you start to be careful with how much you spend and what it is on.
TIP #4: FOOD.
I consider this a tip but it really depends on whoever is reading this. For school, I use my student ID as like a "bank account"/gift card account. I would start off putting in $30 (and usually per month) and sometimes I like to buy drinks or food and use ONLY MY "STUDENT ID BANK CARD" to pay for it. This gives me an idea of how much I can spend in a month for school and kind of like divide and see how much I need to spend within a month. Sometimes I don't even spend the full amount within a month but sometimes I spend it all within two weeks. I guess it just really depends on us LOL. Another tip that is in this topic is bring your own lunch because 1. you're saving money and 2. its healthier for you anyways. Think about it, if everyday we spend at least $8-10 each day on food for ONE MONTH, we're literally spending at most $300/per month. That's insane LOL. So bring your lunch or snack and treat yourself once/twice every week instead of everyday (plus, wouldn't you guys get sick of the food at school anyways?)
Annnd...that's basically how I save my money. I really just want to clarify that I'm not here to tell you how you should spend your money or whatever because you do you and its up to you to decide whether or not you want to save money. I just want to share these tips to people who want to save money (these tips might not be the best but thats what I do so :D). I will be posting more back to school posts later on when I get everything settled but there will be a beauty post coming very soon!
I realized that I repeated myself a lot in this post so I apologize for that. THANK YOU FOR READING MY BLOG THIS WEEK~ Goodnight my fellow readers~
